CVS COURSES. Some courses can be taken concurrently with completing the Intrinsic Coach® Certification. It is strongly recommended to complete Intrinsic Coach® Series I before beginning concurrent training and is required before beginning Thinking Behind Choices II.

CVS REQUIREMENTS. Certified Intrinsic Coach® Certification (prerequisite), Thinking Behind Choices I, II, & III, and meeting attendance and participation requirements, including giving the assessment to two people you choose and presenting a mini-case study.
VALUE APPRAISAL PROFILE. You will take an online assessment before the first session of the Thinking Behind Choices I and get a report. During Thinking Behind Choices II, you will give that same assessment to two people you choose.
ATTENDANCE. All Thinking Behind Choices Series (I, II, & III) sessions are required and can be attended via live webinar and/or video, depending on your schedule. Attendance via video is confirmed by submitting a brief written learning online.
CONTINUING EDUCATION. CE fee for most credentials is $25/course. You will have an opportunity to purchase CE online after completing your enrollment. Should your governing board require 100% live attendance to earn CE hours, an alternative in person session can be arranged. View CE
TIME ZONES. All times are listed as the current EASTERN time (whether EST or EDT). Arizona residents and others who do not observe daylight savings: your local class time will change by one hour with each beginning and end of daylight savings time.
HOLIDAYS. In the event of a holiday, sessions resume the following week, extending the time frame to complete your training. Classes do not meet January 1, after 4 PM Eastern on Feb. 14, Friday before Easter Sunday, Memorial Day (USA), July 4th, Labor Day (USA), Thanksgiving Day (USA), Thanksgiving Friday (USA), December 24, 25, 26, & after 4 PM Eastern on Dec. 31. Saturday sessions do not meet on three-day holiday weekends.

The Certified Valuations Specialist (CVS) certification represents excellence in coaching through the use of a profoundly impactful measurement instrument that illustrates valuation patterns - thought processes that typically happen without awareness and lead a person to think, “This is more valuable than that.” A valuation pattern is behind one person’s decision to stay up all night to meet a deadline and another person's decision to go to sleep and start again in the morning.
The CVS Certification includes content, application of skills with two people you choose, and presentation of a brief case study arising from learning about and working with people's unique patterns of thinking: 28 measurements plus combinations that individually and together illuminate the thinking behind choices, at rest, during problem solving, and when under stress.
In a highly interactive learning environment, the Thinking Behind Choices course sequence focuses on measurements of valuations and integrating the use of these measurements with the Intrinsic Coaching® methodology.
The goal of the Certified Valuations Specialist certification is to be able to integrate the Intrinsic Coaching® methodology with the use of measurements illustrating the details of a person's thinking behind choices, including your own, in coaching, consulting, program design, and anywhere a clear understanding of the thinking behind choices makes the necessary difference in being successful when addressing choices. While working on this certification, you can also expect to experience your own personal development and a positive impact in your life of what you are learning.
In the event of working toward the CIC and CVS concurrently, the Intrinsic Coach® Series I must be completed before starting the Thinking Behind Choices II.
The Thinking Behind Choices I
After taking an online assessment, you will have your own measurements of the patterns of thinking you use, whether reflexively or more consciously, when you make choices. The assessment is taken before training begins. Using your own measurements to learn about the intricacies of decision-making, you will understand not only how you, specifically and uniquely, arrive at what makes sense to you, but also how people, each in their own unique way, do the same, whether habitually or after thinking things through. You will begin to carry these learnings to your work with people, as a coach, consultant, service professional, leader, program designer, and also to yourself as a person making choices while living and working with people. Throughout the 12-weeks, you will learn a total of 28 measurements that have meaning individually and in combination that open up awareness of, skills for, and knowledge about valuations that create the thinking behind choices.
The Thinking Behind Choices II
You will enable two people to take the same online assessment and review their results with them while integrating the Intrinsic Coaching® methodology. You will collaborate with your peers during this application phase, having opportunities to prepare yourself to work with a person in the context of what you are learning and also benefit from participant debriefs on their experiences.
The Thinking Behind Choices III
Participants prepare a brief presentation – a mini-case study – for which a simple, step-by-step template is provided. Typically about an experience with one person, sometimes participants present their own growth, which occurred as a result of having their own measurements. During the presentations, you can expect to witness, including in yourself, a skill level beyond anything you had anticipated when starting.
Certified Valuations Specialist (CVS) Certification
Upon completion of attendance, participation, and assessment experience requirements, participants are awarded the Certified Valuations Specialist (CVS) Certification, which is CCE-Approved for the Board Certified Coach Certification. Certified Valuations Specialists have independent access to the online vehicle that enables the use of the measurement instrument, online video resources, continued live and collaborative learning opportunities, and access to the community of Certified Valuation Specialists.
Certified Valuation Specialists also carry the Certified Intrinsic Coach® certification and gain access to independent use of the valuation profile. Certified Valuations Specialists currently use the profile in their coaching, consulting, and therapy practices.
The Certified Valuations Specialist (CVS) certification is CCE-Approved to be applied toward the prestigious Board Certified Coach certification.
A senior leader, who had not been "feeling like himself," was stunned when his measurements not only illustrated the stress he was under but also pointed to the nature of the stress, which he had been struggling to identify. His measurements also assured him that his high level capacities were still intact. In seeing confirmation that he was, in fact, “still himself” and in being enabled to articulate his stress with clarity, he was able to make changes that are important to him.
The Certified Valuations Specialist certification, as a dual certification that includes the Certified Intrinsic Coach® certification, represents excellence in both coaching and the independent use of valuation measurements. A valuation is the thinking behind choices that leads one person to stay up all night to meet a deadline and another person to go to bed and start again in the morning. While one outcome of the Certified Valuations Specialist certification is having independent access to the valuation measurement instrument, the skills gained will serve both with and without using the valuation profile. There is no other coaching certification that includes excellence in intrinsic valuing, knowledge of valuations and valuation measurements, and the application of the I>E>S hierarchy of value.
From the Certified Intrinsic Coach® certification, you will have a recognizable coaching certification and solid and distinctive coaching skills and also greater confidence in being able to clarify and achieve your own goals. You learn what intrinsic, extrinsic, and systemic valuing is and how these three types of valuing inform and influence our choices when supporting people as a professional and in your own day to day living. You will learn what intrinsic valuing is, how to enact intrinsic valuing, how to maintain intrinsic valuing in the face of external pressures, and how intrinsic valuing engages best thinking about people, whether thinking about someone else or thinking about yourself. You learn how to actualize and apply the hierarchy of the Intrinsic Coaching® methodology, I>E>S, which enables skillful navigating of the complexities of being an intrinsic (unique) human being in a complex world.
Continuing on (or working concurrently) to gain the Certified Valuations Specialist certification, you learn about, and directly work with, detailed measurements that illuminate a person's unique experience of the self, the world around the self, and as this experience occurs within a point in time.
There is much to learn about engaging and understanding valuations, both with and without the measurements. Valuations are patterns of thinking that indicate “this is more important than that” and “this choice makes more sense than that choice.” Valuations are hidden processes that drive the content of our thoughts - they are relevant to and operating within every human being. In coaching, you will engage the valuation pattern, I>E>S, to engage best thinking about people, and in use of valuation measurements you will learn what these invisible processes are by name and specific function: you will be able to identify 28 measurements plus their combinations, understand these measurements both as concepts and as they are experienced by people.
The experience of learning the Intrinsic Coaching® methodology and the knowledge of valuation patterns, with specificity, along with the personal experience of I>E>S and these measurements of valuation patterns as they apply to you (and come alive in you) is a lasting eye-opener that forms a personal and professional skill base for anyone.
The Thinking Behind Choices provided incredible insight for me personally and professionally. Having the opportunity to understand the framework for how I make decisions was enlightening and empowering. Until taking the Thinking Behind Choices, I had no way to understand why I think the way I do. A BETTER COACH
A BCC became aware of a pattern she noticed in her coaching work with healthcare professionals that reduced personal organizational effectiveness and increased stress. With her new knowledge of patterns of thinking and valuation processes, she became aware that valuations are a part of both personal decision-making and organizational processes. Without that knowledge, she could have and, indeed, had sometimes coached to one or the other. Now she knows when it is more effective to coach to both.
